Fall is here and this season includes a lot of things : cozy sweaters, hot chocolates and most of all the beginning of the school year. Being in school can affect your skin more than you think. In order to get a glow as good as your grades, here are five tips to have good skin during the whole semester!
1 : Don't stress
It's completely normal to be stressed out from time to time. Especially at the start of the school year. However stress is a big factor in the health of your skin. When in stress, inflammation is your body’s response to a perceived threat to your health. In consequence eczema, breakouts, or even psoriasis can occur. A few common causes of stress include : an increase in financial obligations such as tuition costs or moving to a new home like the dorm life. Fortunately there is a solution to this problem. Keep your stress level down. Aromatherapy (see our previous blog post), frequent exercise, or even music are known stress relievers among students.
2 : Don't put all-nighters
We get it, it's 8pm on Sunday and your prof asked you a 10 page essay for Monday that you haven't started. You already know what that means : an all-nighter! However pulling one of these is a one-way ticket to the land of dull skin. Your skin needs to regenerate and it tends to do so during the night. Staying up all night frequently can have a negative impact on your skin. If you truly find yourself in the infamous ''I-procrastinated-too-much-now-I-gotta-face-the-consequences'' situation, you can always recover. Be sure to stay hydrated, have a little nap and do not binge on coffee (you've probably had enough anyway).
3 : Carry your essentials in your backpack
Just like it was mentioned earlier, school starts in the fall. Fall means the cold is kicking in. Be wary of chapped lips and dry hands! Lack of moisture and the weather are the culprit of those two problems and if you don't have anything within reach to solve the issue, you're doomed. Now you don't have to bring all of your skin care products in your bag! Bring travel-sized essentials in your backpack and use them when necessary. These include for example lip balms, hand creams and wipes.
4 : Organize you skin care routine accordingly
A lot of people don't realize that school eats up most of your schedule. This is mostly why the consistency of skin care routine is at risk. To avoid slacking off on keeping your skin healthy, keep your routine like a tall pumpkin spice latte : short and sweet. No need to go overboard and your skin care routine should not take more than ten minutes. By keeping a good balance between school and pampering yourself will not have a negative effect on either of them.
5 : Watch out for the cold
Fall is the transitional season to winter. The cold means you have to unfortunately ditch your summer products and go for something a little heavier (not too heavy though). A thicker moisturizer will do. Don't be afraid to go for creams instead of lotions for the fall.
So what do you think of these tips? Will you try them? Are you ready to spice up your skin care regimen a little bit? All those tips will most definitely make the school year easier on your skin. Put this advice in application as much as you can so you can enjoy the cute sweaters, colored leaves and pumpkin pies in peace!
